Notes:
John Kimmel used to pin-hook horses before his involvemen t in horse training. He did his graduation from the University of Pennsylvan ia Veterinary School in 1980 and practised as a vet with Dr. Michael Teigland till 1983. He took out trainer†™s license in 1987 and gave up his veterinary practice to concentrat e solely on Thoroughbr eds. He was brought into the world of horse racing by his father Caesar, who was a horse owner. The first winning horse that he trained was Chachi Man at Calder in 1987. John C. Kimmel was included in the list of all New York leading trainers by earnings in 1997, 1998 and 1999. He saddled GI winner Twist Afleet. It later emerged the winner at the Test Stakes in 1994. Marasca was another horse trained by him that won the Aventura Stakes at Gulfstream Park in 2002. In 1990, John moved his farm to New York for grooming grade 1 winners: Golden Bri, Flat Fleet Feet, Fabulously Fast and Catinca.

Kimmel̢۪s Twist Afleet registered twelve stakes win from 14 starts including 1994 Test at Saratoga.
Pompeii and Miss Linda brought many stakes win for him in 2001.
Some of his major winners include Premium Tap, Brushed Bayou, Americanus, Beautiful Daniele, True to Tradition and Marrouche.
John Kimmel has trained Timber Reserve to victory at the Pennsylvania Derby meet in September.
One of his career best wins came at Gulfstream Park. Friends Lake, the winner of the 2004 Florida Derby led him to victory.
