Wynning Ride and jockey Martin Garcia took the lead in the field of six fillies and mares coming into the homestretch and looked to be an easy victor, but Made for Magic and Omar Berrio rallied in the final yards to win by a half-length and take the mare's first graded stakes, covering 1 1-16 miles on turf in 1:43.48.
The second longest shot in the field, Made for Magic paid $21.60, $7.40 and $4.20. Wynning Ride paid $3.20 and $2.20. Third Dawn was another half-length back in third and paid $2.60 to show.
A 5-year-old mare trained by A.C. Avila, Made for Magic was claimed for just $16,000 in August at Golden Gate Fields. She earned $90,000 for Sunday's victory, her eighth in 33 starts, taking her lifetime total to $297,994.
