Daveron wins US debut at Belmont
May 15, 2010NEW YORK (AP) -Daveron was a decisive winner in her U.S. debut, beating Talike Me by four lengths Friday in the $55,000 allowance feature for fillies and mares on the turf at Belmont Park.
A 5-year-old bred in Germany, Daveron compiled a record of 2-2-1 in seven races in Europe. She readily adapted to her new surroundings, and a shift to trainer Christophe Clement's barn.
Eddie Castro was aboard as she ran the 1 1-16 miles in 1:41.01 on the firm course.
Daveron paid $7.60, $4.70 and $2.50. Talike Me returned $9.10 and $5.20. Granted Tiger, the 3-2 favorite, paid $2.20 to show.
