Sapphire Sky wins Belmont feature
May 12, 2010NEW YORK (AP) -Sapphire Sky edged Saarlight by a nose in the mud on Wednesday in the $59,000 allowance feature for fillies and mares at Belmont Park.
John Velazquez was aboard for trainer David Donk as the New York-bred 4-year-old earned her sixth win in 17 starts. All her victories have come on wet tracks where she excels with a mark of 6-2-1 in nine races. The time was 1:16.43 for the 6 1/2 furlongs.
Sapphire Sky paid $8.50, $4.30 and $2.60. Saarlight returned $4.40 and $2.50. D'Wild Ride paid $2.30 to show as the 7-5 favorite.
