Derby winner Super Saver back on track for jog
May 6, 2010LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -Super Saver has returned to the track for the first time since winning the Kentucky Derby, jogging a mile at Churchill Downs.
The 3-year-old colt ``jogged like a Derby winner,'' trainer Todd Pletcher's assistant Mike McCarthy said Wednesday, adding ``his energy, attitude and appetite are all good.''
Super Saver is scheduled to remain at the track until next week. He will be shipped to Pimlico on Wednesday for the Preakness on May 15.
Super Saver gave Pletcher his first Derby win last Saturday, with jockey Calvin Borel taking the Run for the Roses for the third time in four years.
Pletcher could have a second entry in the Preakness with Aikenite, who galloped 1 3/8 miles at the track.
