Noble's Promise "60-40" chance of running in Derby
April 20, 2010LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -Noble's Promise put together a sharp workout, but trainer Ken McPeek says he's still unsure if the 3-year-old colt will run in the Kentucky Derby.
Noble's Promise covered five furlongs in 59.80 seconds Tuesday at Churchill Downs, a move McPeek found encouraging. The horse is still dealing with a mild lung infection as well as cuts sustained during a fifth-place finish in the Arkansas Derby on April 10.
McPeek said there's a ``60-40'' chance the horse will run in the Derby and that it largely depends on how Noble's Promise recovers from the work.
Noble's Promise ranks second in graded stakes earnings with $738,000. The colt has three wins in eight lifetime starts. He finished second in the Rebel Stakes and the CashCall Futurity.
