Devine Actress wins Santa Anita feature
April 17, 2010ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) -Devine Actress ran down pacesetter Dance to My Tune in the final sixteenth of a mile to win Friday's $58,300 Santa Lucia Handicap by a half-length at Santa Anita.
Ridden by Tyler Baze, who had three winners on the card, Devine Actress ran 1 1-16 miles in 1:42.47 and paid $19.40, $5.80 and $3.60 at 8-1 odds for her first stakes victory.
Dance to My Tune returned $3.60 and $2.80, while Made for Magic was another 1 1/4 lengths back in third and paid $2.60 to show.
``I had a good trip,'' Baze said. ``When those two fillies (Dance to My Tune and Made for Magic) hooked up going into the first turn, it really helped. We couldn't have had a better trip.''
The victory, worth $34,980, increased Devine Actress' career earnings to $107,300, with three wins in six starts.
