Affirmatif wins Keeneland feature by 1 3/4 lengths
April 15, 2010LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -Affirmatif posted a 1 3/4-length win at Keeneland in the featured $56,217 Heaven Trees Purse.
Ridden by Garrett Gomez, Affirmatif took the lead after a quarter-mile, pulled away as he hit the backstretch and was never threatened in the race Wednesday for 4-year-olds and older. He covered the 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf in 1:02.77 and paid $2.80, $2.40 and $2.10.
Evacuation Route returned $3.40 and $3, while Cuban Missile finished another length back and paid $4.20 to show.
Affirmatif, the 4-year-old son of Unbridled's Song and owned by Wertheimer and Frere, earned $34,800 to increase his career total to $147,690 in his first start since September.
