French Dip pulls off Big A upset
April 14, 2010NEW YORK (AP) -French Dip held off Casanova Move, the 1-5 favorite, by a head in the $57,000 Hilbys Brite Flight Stakes on Wednesday at Aqueduct.
Todd Pletcher trained the 1-2 finishers in the stakes for fillies and mares. They raced as separate betting interests.
David Cohen was aboard French Dip as she set the pace under intense pressure from Weathered, who ultimately finished last in the four-horse field. Casanova Move, the trailer in the tight pack for most of the race, could not completely close the gap in the lane. French Dip ran the one mile in 1:39.67 on the fast track for her third win in 13 starts.
French Dip paid $10 and $2.90. Casanova Move returned $2.10. My Dinah was third. There was no show wagering.
