America Mon Amie rallies to win Northbound Pride Oaks
June 23, 2015SHAKOPEE, Minn. – America Mon Amie ($9.00), an Arlington Park shipper trained and co-owned by Tony Granitz, continued her progress on the turf with a three-quarter-length win in Sunday's $75,000 Northbound Pride Oaks, a mile race for 3-year-old fillies at Canterbury Park.
Forwardly placed under Rosemary Homeister Jr., America Mon Amie produced a three-wide rally under a strong drive to prevail over the 7-5 favorite Mizz Money in the field of eight. Mizz Money, a Bernie Flint trainee who had shipped north from Churchill Downs, set a steady pace and held second by a half-length over 26-1 longshot My Blue Sky.
America Mon Amie, who covered the mile on the Canterbury turf course in 1:36.58, now has two wins on the grass in her four lifetime starts. The daughter of the Australian-bred stallion All American collected $45,000 for a partnership consisting of her trainer; her breeder, Captain Jack Racing Stable; and David Menard.
Pricelesscommodity ($7.60) continued to handle Canterbury Park's main track with aplomb by taking the co-featured $75,000 Dark Star Stakes by 4 3/4 lengths. Settled four wide in the early stages by Hugo Sanchez, Pricelesscommodity kicked clear from the classy veteran Picko's Pride for a convincing win in the 6 1/2-furlong test. Picko's Pride, who had stalked Rockin Home's demanding pace, held Diamond Joe safe for the place spot by 1 3/4 lengths. The 13-10 favorite Rise Up came up empty when finishing fourth in the seven-horse field. Trained by Tim Padilla, Pricelesscommodity, a 5-year-old Midnight Lute horse, collected $45,000 for Padilla's main client, Alan Booge Racing. Pricelesscommodity stopped the clock for 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:16.32.
