INGLEWOOD, Calif. – Shared Belief, unbeaten winner of Sunday’s $100,000 Hollywood Prevue Stakes, will get a distance test in the $750,000 CashCall Futurity at Hollywood Park on Dec. 14.

Shared Belief may go favored in the Grade 1 race over 1 1/16 miles.

“As long as the horse is good, we’ll try it,” trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said Monday. “I think we’d be foolish not to consider it. He ran a really good race. He likes Hollywood.”

In the Grade 3 Hollywood Prevue Stakes over seven furlongs, Shared Belief ($5) won by 7 3/4 lengths, finishing in 1:22.17. He earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 99.

Shared Belief was always near the front and scooted clear in the final furlong to outrun Kobe’s Back, winner of the Willard Proctor Memorial Stakes in his debut last June.

Shared Belief beat maidens in his debut at Golden Gate Fields on Oct. 19 racing for breeders Pam and Marty Wygod and trainer Jedd Josephson. In the days following that race, Shared Belief was purchased privately by Hollendorfer, Jim Rome, Alex Solis II, Jason Litt, and George Todaro.

The win in the Prevue left Hollendorfer eager to see how Shared Belief will develop.

“It’s hard to predict,” Hollendorfer said. “Any of these horses that do well there is the question: Can they go on to a mile or a mile and an eighth? A young horse that is doing well gets under the microscope. They have to prove they can take the next step. It makes it a lot of fun.”

Hollendorfer has a strong group of 2-year-olds. In September, Tamarando won the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity, and he was third in the Golden State Juvenile for California-breds over a mile at Santa Anita on Nov. 1.

Hollendorfer also is eager to try stakes in coming weeks with the colt Exit Stage Left and filly Rever Du Vous.

Exit Stage Left, who is by Noonmark, won his debut in the Golden Nugget Stakes at Golden Gate Fields on Saturday. Rever Du Vous, who is by Distorted Humor, won her debut at Golden Gate Fields on Nov. 2 and could be sent to Southern California this fall, Hollendorfer said. She was nominated to Saturday’s Sharp Cat Stakes but was not entered.

Kobe’s Back also eyes CashCall

The Prevue was the first start for Kobe’s Back since his debut win because of concern over a knee.

Trained by John Sadler, Kobe’s Back was the 4-5 favorite in the Prevue and closed from last in a field of five to be second. He finished 4 3/4 lengths clear of third-place finisher Brother Soldier.

Sadler said that Kobe’s Back will start in the CashCall Futurity.

“I thought he ran well,” Sadler said. “There was no denying the winner. We were still going to run second.

“I didn’t see anything I didn’t like.”
