TRAVERS STAKES ON AUGUST 24 EXPECTED TO FEATURE TRIPLE CROWN RACE WINNERS ORB, OXBOW & PALACE MALICE

STAMFORD, Conn. – The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) and the NBC Sports Group are partnering for a third consecutive year to present the “Summer at Saratoga” series, with seven live broadcasts from Saratoga Race Course, starting on Saturday, July 27 and concluding on Saturday August 31. There will be eight hours of live coverage over seven weekends, including the telecast of the Grade 1, $1 million Travers Stakes on August 24 featuring a potential showdown between Palace Malice, the winner of the Belmont Stakes, Kentucky Derby winner Orb and Preakness Stakes victor Oxbow.

The broadcasts will also feature live coverage of some of the premier races of the Saratoga season, including the Grade 1, $750,000 Whitney Invitational Handicap on August 3 and the Grade 1, $600,000 Alabama Stakes on August 17.

Saratoga Race Course was named one of the world’s top 10 sporting venues of the 20th century by Sports Illustrated and is the premier thoroughbred racing meet in the United States with nearly 1 million visitors in 2012.

The schedule for the NBC’s live coverage of the 2013 Saratoga meet is as follows (All Times ET):

Saturday, July 27:  Grade 1, $600,000 Diana and Grade 2, $600,000 Jim Dandy (5-6pm on NBC Sports Network)

Saturday, August 3: Grade 1, $750,000 Whitney Invitational Handicap (5-6pm on NBC)

Saturday, August 10: Grade 2, $500,000 Fourstardave Handicap (5-6pm on NBC)

Sunday, August 11: Grade 2, $200,000 Adirondack and Grade 2, $200,000 Saratoga Special (5-6pm on NBC Sports Network)

Saturday, August 17: Grade 1, $600,000 Alabama and Grade 1, $600,000 Sword Dancer Invitational (5-6pm on NBC Sports Network)

Saturday, August 24: Grade 1, $500,000 Foxwoods King’s Bishop and Grade 1, $1 million Travers (4:30-6pm on NBC)

Saturday, August 31:  Grade 2, $250,000 Bernard Baruch Handicap, G1 $500,000 Forego and Grade 1, $750,000 Woodward (4-6pm on NBC Sports Network)

NBC SPORTS LIVE EXTRA: NBC Sports Live Extra — the NBC Sports Group’s live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices, and tablets — will stream Summer at Saratoga coverage on NBC and NBC Sports Network. The NBC Sports Network coverage will be live streamed via “TV Everywhere,” the media industry’s effort to make quality content available to MVPD customers both in and out of the home and on multiple platforms.

Summer at Saratoga coverage airing on:

    NBC will live stream to PCs, mobile devices and tablets through NBC Sports Live Extra.
    NBC Sports Network will live stream to PCs, mobile devices and tablets through NBC Sports Live Extra, and to the digital platforms of participating cable, satellite, and telco services, via “TV Everywhere.” “TV Everywhere” is available on an authenticated basis to subscribers of participating MVPDs.

NBC Sports Live Extra will offer full replays of all streamed races.
