Tony Bennett to sing at Breeders' Cup
September 27, 2012ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) -- Tony Bennett is going to swing at the Breeders' Cup.
The Grammy-winning singer will perform "The Best Is Yet to Come" at horse racing's world championships at Santa Anita Park on Nov. 3. He will sing in the winner's circle as the horses are making their way to the starting gate for the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic race, which will air in prime time on NBC.
The two-day event is using "The Best Is Yet to Come" as a centerpiece in its advertising.
"It's a wonderful song and I love it just as much as when I first introduced the song to the American public in 1960," Bennett said Thursday in New York, where his performance was announced.
Bennett's new CD, "Tony Bennett: Viva Duets," featuring him performing his greatest hits with Latin artists, will be released Oct. 22.
The Breeders' Cup consists of 15 races worth more than $25 million over Nov. 2-3.
