Mel Beach wins Monmouth Park feature
September 22, 2012OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) -- Mel Beach took the lead in the stretch and drew off to beat Just Chillin Boss by 1 3/4 lengths Saturday in the $34,000 allowance feature at Monmouth Park.
Trained by Eddie Plesa Jr. and ridden by Angel Serpa, Mel Beach ran five furlongs on the firm turf course in 55 seconds and paid $9.60, $4.20 and $2.60. The 3-year-old gelding has three victories in 15 career starts.
Just Chillin Boss returned $3.40 and $2.40, and Time to Laugh paid $2.80 to show.
