Bern Identity gets victory
July 22, 2012SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) - Favored Bern Identity overtook Handsome Jack in the final sixteenth mile and moved on to a 1 1/4-length victory in the $200,000 Sanford Stakes for 2-year-olds Sunday at Saratoga.
Rosie Napravnik rode the Kelly Breen-trained colt to his second victory in three starts. He ran six furlongs in 1:11.13 and earned $120,000 for owners George and Lori Hall.
Bern Identity paid $5.60, $4, $3.40. Handsome Jack returned $4.50 and $3.50. Onetwentyeight, third of eight, paid $5.10 to show.
