Millenia romps in Monmouth Park featured race
July 13, 2012OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) - Millenia assumed command inside the eighth pole and went to post a 33/4-length victory over Crying Lightning in the featured $46,000 race at Monmouth Park on Friday.
Trained by David Fawkes, Millenia covered 1 1/16 miles on the turf in 1:41 3/5. The Joe Rocco Jr.-ridden winner returned $11.60, $5.60 and $3.40 for a fourth victory in 24 career starts.
Crying Lightening paid $5.80 and $3.40, while favored Salary Drive finished third and was $2.60 to show.
The track also announced jockey Angel Serpa suffered a concussion after being unseated in the fifth race and will be held overnight for observation at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. The 24-year-old native of Puerto Rico was fifth in the jockey standings going into Friday's card.
