La Cloche wins Belmont's Voodoo Dancer Stakes
July 8, 2012NEW YORK (AP) - La Cloche surged down the center of the turf course to beat Wallis by 3 1/4 lengths Sunday in the $90,000 Voodoo Dancer Stakes for fillies and mares at Belmont Park.
Junior Alvarado was aboard for trainer James Toner as the 5-year-old earned her first stakes victory, and fourth win in 15 career starts. The time was 1:35.12 for a mile.
La Cloche paid $9.80, $3.90 and $3.30. Wallis returned $3.30 and $2.90, and Kiss in the Forest paid $5.40 to show.
