Turbulent Descent wins Desert Stormer Handicap
June 17, 2012INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) - Turbulent Descent remained undefeated at Betfair Hollywood Park with a 1 1/4-length victory in the $72,570 Desert Stormer Handicap on Sunday.
Ridden by David Flores, Turbulent Descent ran six furlongs on Cushion Track in 1:09.25 and paid $5, $3.40 and $2.60 as the 3-2 favorite. She improved to 4-0 on the synthetic surface in her first start of the year. She had been idle since a poor showing on Dec. 31 at Santa Anita.
Izzy Rules returned $6 and $4.80. Mildly Offensive was another 4 1/2 lengths back in third and paid $4.40 to show.
Switch and Teddy's Promise, the other two Grade 1 winners in the field, failed to fire. Switch was fourth and Teddy's Promise was fifth.
It was Turbulent Descent's seventh win in 11 career starts with earnings of $901,640.
