Summer Front wins Belmont feature
June 16, 2012NEW YORK (AP) - Summer Front, the 6-5 favorite, overcame a poor start and a tough trip Saturday to win the $150,000 Hill Prince Stakes for 3-year-olds on the turf at Belmont Park.
The colt trained by Christophe Clement and ridden by Ramon Dominguez leapt at the break and wound up trapped in traffic on the hedge in deep stretch. Dominguez found an opening to the outside just in time and Summer Front surged past Howe Great for a half length score, his fourth win in six starts. The time was 1:33.74 for the one mile.
Summer Front paid $4.70, $2.90 and $2.70. Howe Great returned $3.30 and $2.80 and Film Shot paid $6.50 to show.
