EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - The $1.5 million Hambletonian, the richest race for 3-year-old trotters, will be televised by the CBS Sports Network on Aug. 4.

The Hambletonian Society, which owns and administers the race at the Meadowlands, announced Wednesday that it had reached a one-year deal with the sports cable network of CBS to telecast the race.

NBC had televised the race for the past five years, but the network couldn't accommodate the August date for the race because it will be airing the Olympics.

The Hambletonian was broadcast live on CBS from 1993-2006. CBS Sports Network is the 24-hour sports cable network of CBS Sports. It is available to 99 million homes nationwide and currently has 45 million subscribers.
