All Star Heart wins Redondo Beach Stakes
June 10, 2012INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) - Coming off a seven-month layoff, All Star Heart won the $72,800 Redondo Beach Stakes by a half-length Sunday at Betfair Hollywood Park.
Ridden by Brice Blanc, All Star Heart ran a mile on the turf in 1:35.45 and paid $8.60, $5.60 and $3.60 in her first start since winning the Las Palmas Stakes on Nov. 6. Blanc became the first jockey to win the Redondo Beach twice, having done so with Turning Top in 2010.
``What a nice filly,'' Hall of Fame trainer Ron McAnally. ``You can always tell when she's coming around. You walk in the stall to give her a carrot and after she gets the carrot she'll rear and kick. She was away because she had a little splint. It just took time.''
Hard to Resist returned $8.40 and $4.80, while Briecat was another half-length back in third and paid $3.60 to show. Star Billing finished last as the 8-5 favorite.
All Star Heart has six wins in 16 career starts and earnings of $305,385.
