Sloane Ranger rallies to win Monmouth feature
June 8, 2012OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) - Sloane Ranger rallied between horses in the stretch and scored a half-length victory over Escrow Kid in the $52,000 allowance feature at Monmouth Park on Friday.
Ridden by Keibar Coa and getting from nine to seven pounds from the rest of the field, Sloane Ranger covered the six furlongs in 1:09. The 6-year-old gelding returned $12.20, $5.80 and $4 in winning for the sixth time in 26 starts.
Escrow Kid paid $8.60 and $4.20. It was another half-length back to Golddigger's Boy, who paid $3 to show. Favored Travelin Man failed to fire inside the eighth pole and finished fourth.
Coa rode three winners on the card.
