I'll Have Another enters Belmont detention barn
June 6, 2012NEW YORK (AP) - Triple Crown hopeful I'll Have Another has entered the Belmont Stakes detention barn, joining most of the horses he will be facing in his bid to become the first Triple Crown winner in 34 years.
Followed by trainer Doug O'Neill and crew and a large group of media, the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner walked calmly down a dirt path of a few hundred yards and into the security barn.
Time of arrival for I'll Have Another was 12:04 p.m., four minutes past the required deadline set by the New York State Racing and Wagering Board. The barn was set up as part of new rules to ensure the safety and security of the horses.
Among the horses seen entering earlier Wednesday were Union Rags, Paynter, My Adonis, Unstoppable U and Atigun.
I'll Have Another went for his usual gallop earlier, and O'Neill says his colt has a ``big chance'' to win.
