I'll Have Another's trainer in swing with Mets cap
June 2, 2012NEW YORK (AP) - Trainer Doug O'Neill sported a New York Mets cap for his morning briefing after Triple Crown hopeful I'll Have Another made his daily gallop around Belmont Park.
O'Neill said one of his barn security guards - a big Mets fan - gave him the cap Saturday. On Friday night, Johan Santana pitched the first no-hitter in Mets history in beating St. Louis.
Overnight rain of 1 1-2 inches left the track a bit muddy, but I'll Have Another did fine in going through a ``normal routine.'' Says O'Neill: ``We were on a very nice, safe, fresh track, and I'll Have Another galloped like a champ over it.''
The Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner will attempt to become racing's 12th Triple Crown winner in the Belmont Stakes on June 9.
