Caleb's Posse tops strong Metropolitan 'Cap field

NEW YORK (AP) - There's more than one big race at Belmont Park over the next few weeks.

While I'll Have Another will attempt to become racing's first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978 in the Belmont Stakes on June 9, the Metropolitan Handicap on Monday features one of the strongest fields in the 120-year history of the race.

A Preakness winner. A Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile winner. A Cigar Mile winner. A Carter Handicap winner. A claimer who's earned more than $1 million. And a New York-bred claimer with a five-race winning streak.

The six-horse field is so solid that 2011 Preakness winner Shackleford is the 4-1 fourth betting choice. The 8-5 morning-line favorite is Caleb's Posse, winner of the 2011 Dirt Mile, and a late closer just like I'll Have Another.
