Philly Ace wins Monmouth Park allowance feature
May 20, 2012OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) - Philly Ace took the lead around the far turn and held off Play It Straight in the closing strides to win by a half-length in the $44,000 allowance feature at Monmouth Park on Sunday.
Ridden by Kendrick Carmouche and trained by Christophe Clement, the 4-year-old gelding ran the mile over a firm turf course in 1:34 1/5 and returned $7.40, $4.80 and $3. It was Philly Ace's fourth win in nine career starts.
Play It Straight paid $4.20 and $2.80, while Admiral Perry was another half-length back in third and returned $2.80.
