Frankel claims 10th straight win in season opener
May 19, 2012NEWBURY, England (AP) - Frankel ran his unbeaten record to 10-0 with an easy victory in the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.
Making his 4-year-old debut, the international star was sent off as the 2-7 favorite and won by five lengths. It was his first start since winning the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot last October.
The horse named after the late Hall of Fame trainer Bobby Frankel looked in top form in the one-mile race. Just over a month ago, he hurt his leg in training.
``If you look at him now, he's the real deal - he's filled out since last year,'' jockey Tom Queally said.
Frankel could take on Australian star Black Caviar in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood on Aug. 1.
