At Preakness, Motion is the hunter, not the target

BALTIMORE (AP) - A year ago, trainer Graham Motion came to Pimlico Race Course with the Kentucky Derby winner.

He was one of the most popular guys at the track because Animal Kingdom was the lone horse in the Preakness field with a shot at winning the Triple Crown.

Motion's entrant in the Preakness on Saturday is Went the Day Well, who finished fourth at Churchill Downs two weeks ago.

So while Motion operates in relative obscurity, Doug O'Neill and Derby winner I'll Have Another, along with Bob Baffert with Preakness favorite Bodemeister, are attracting the attention.

Motion says, ``I'm more comfortable being under the radar.''

But he acknowledged Thursday that last year was far more exciting - even if Animal Kingdom ultimately lost the Preakness to Shackleford by a half-length.
