May 12, 2012INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) - Drill beat American Act by a half-length Saturday in the $98,000 Lazaro Barrera Memorial Stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park.
Ridden by Martin Garcia, Drill ran seven furlongs on the synthetic Cushion Track in 1:22.98 and paid $4.40 and $2.80 as the 6-5 favorite for trainer Bob Baffert.
American Act returned $3.20, while Gun Boat, also trained by Baffert, was another half-length back in third. Boompa was fourth. There was no show wagering because of the small field.
Drill won for the fourth time in 11 career starts and increased his earnings to $419,710.
Garcia had two other wins on the card with Baffert-trained horses in the sixth and seventh races.
Jockey Joel Rosario had four winners on the card two days after he rode three winners.
