Jockey Robby Albarado arrested on assault charge
May 4, 2012LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Jockey Robby Albarado has been arrested on an assault charge and has lost his ride in the Kentucky Oaks.
Jefferson County Sheriff's Department spokesman Carl Yates says Albarado was arrested at a local residence Friday morning, several hours before the jockey was to ride Hard Not to Like in the Oaks.
Albarado was charged with fourth-degree assault in an alleged case of domestic violence. Yates says Albarado was booked into the local jail.
Churchill Downs spokesman Darren Rogers says Albarado has been scratched from all eight of his scheduled rides Friday.
Last year, Albarado was charged with assaulting his wife. The Courier-Journal says charges of domestic assault and wanton endangerment were dismissed and he pleaded guilty to interfering with a witness.
