City to City takes Buena Vista at Santa Anita
February 20, 2012ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) - City to City was beaten as the heavy favorite in her last two starts but rallied to win by a head as a long shot amid a big field of fillies and mares Monday at Santa Anita in the $150,000 Buena Vista Handicap.
Ridden by Corey Nakatani for the first time, the 5-year-old City to City was fifth at the halfway point in the Grade 2 turf mile, moved up to fourth at the top of the stretch and held off Up In Time.
City to City won in 1:34.19 and paid $19, $7 and $5.20. Up In Time paid $9 and $6.20. Wild Mia was another half-length back in third and paid $5.80.
City to City, a 5-year-old daughter of City Zip trained and partly owned by Jerry Hollendorfer, earned $90,000 for the win, to increase her career earnings to $509,491.
