Singlet and Pretension win Big A stakes
February 11, 2012NEW YORK (AP) - Singlet and Pretension won the $75,000 stakes on Saturday at Aqueduct.
The 8-5 favorite, Singlet nipped Corderosa by a neck in the Dearly Precious for 3-year-old fillies. Trained by Tony Dutrow and ridden by Cornelio Velasquez, Singlet won for the fourth time in five starts, paying $5.20. The time was 1:11.62 for six furlongs.
Pretension beat Swag Daddy, the 3-5 favorite, by 1 1-4 lengths in the Sweet Envoy for New York bred 3-year-olds.
The chestnut colt, trained by Chris Grove, paid $9.60 to win with Javier Santiago aboard. He improved to 2 for 5, running the one mile, 70 yards in 1:43.87.
