ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) - Meltarib defeated Arrivederci Caro by a head to win the $59,050 Hotel California Purse for California-bred or sired fillies and mares on Thursday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Alonso Quinonez, Meltarib covered one mile on turf in 1:34.97 and paid $6.40, $3.80 and $2.60 as the 2-1 favorite in her ninth career start.

Arrivederci Caro returned $7.40 and $4.60, while Ruffled Feathers paid $3.60 to show.

The victory, worth $34,800, increased Meltarib's career earnings to $117,320.
