Opus A wins Aqueduct We'll Sea Ya Stakes
January 13, 2012NEW YORK (AP) - Opus A beat Lovely Lil won by 31/4 lengths on Friday in the $73,500 We'll Sea Ya Stakes for New York-bred fillies and mares at Aqueduct.
Alan Garcia let Opus A sit second as Lovely Lil, making her first start since winning the Go For Wand Stakes here in late November, dictated the pace.
The 1-5 favorite pressed the leader on the final turn and decisively took charge in the final eighth of a mile. Trained by Rick Violette, the 5-year-old earned her fourth win in 11 starts, paying $9.90, $2.90 and $2.20. Lovely Lil returned $2.10 and $2.10 while Lady Gracenote paid $3.10 to show.
The time was 1:37.81 for the 1 mile on a fast track.
