Filly brings top price at Keeneland session
January 11, 2012LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A filly by leading sire Kitten's Joy has brought a top price of $180,000 during the third session of Keeneland's January Horses of All Ages Sale.
Glen Hill Farm purchased the filly, out of the stakes-placed Danzig mare Garden Spot and from the family of Horse of the Year and top sire Mineshaft. The yearling was consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.
Keeneland sold 263 horses Wednesday for $4,255,900, up 47.8 percent over 2011 when 227 horses brought $2,878,150. The day's average was $16,182, up 27.6 percent from last year's $12,679.
Total sales for the first three days are 750 horses for $34,371,200, up 52.9 percent from 619 horses that sold for $22,478,350 in 2011.
The sale ends Thursday.
