C C's Pal and Nicole H win Big A stakes
January 1, 2012NEW YORK (AP) - C C's Pal and Nicole H posted wins on Sunday in $75,000 stakes for fillies and mares at Aqueduct.
C C's Pal rolled to a 2 3/4-length win over Bahama Bound in the Ladies Handicap at 1 1-8 miles. The 5-year-old mare, trained by Rick Dutrow, earned a second-straight stakes win at Aqueduct following the Garland of Roses last month. Junior Alvarado was aboard as she won for the seventh time in 25 starts, paying $4.80 as the 7-5 second choice to Katy Now, the 6-5 favorite, who ran third. The time was 1 minute, 52.85 seconds.
Nicole H posted a repeat victory in the six-furlong Interborough. A decisive 2 1/2-length winner last year, Nicole H prevailed this time by only a neck in 1:10.99 over Winning Image, with Ramon Dominguez in the saddle for trainer Mike Hushion. The 5-year-old improved to 6 for 17, paying $2.90 to win as the 2-5 favorite.
