Swag Daddy, Spa City Fever win Big A stakes
December 31, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Swag Daddy, the even-money favorite, and Spa City Fever, a 34-1 long shot, won the $75,000 stakes for New York breds on Saturday at Aqueduct.
Swag Daddy improved to 3 for 6 with a 4 1/2-length victory over Coalition in the Restrainor for 2-year-olds. Junior Alvarado was aboard for trainer Rick Dutrow as the colt ran one mile, 70 yards in 1:43.87, paying $4.30 to win.
Spa City Fever led all the way in the Alex M. Robb, holding off Icabad Crane by a head. Alan Garcia rode for trainer Pat Kelly as the 5-year-old gelding got his fifth win in 23 starts.
Spa City Fever covered the 1 1-16 miles in 1:45.71, paying $71 to win.
