Frazil wins the Big A's Gravesend Handicap
December 17, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Frazil captured his stakes debut for owner-trainer Linda Rice, beating Pretty Boy Freud by three-quarters of a length on Saturday in the $61,750 Gravesend Handicap at Aqueduct.
One of the most consistent horses in New York, Frazil improved to 8 for 13 this season with wins at the Big A, Saratoga and Belmont Park. Cornelio Velasquez was aboard as the 5-year-old gelding ran six furlongs in 1:10.71.
Frazil, the 5-2 second choice in the four-horse field, paid $7 and $3.90 while Pretty Boy Freud returned $5.60. This Ones for Phil was third, followed by 3-5 favorite Rule by Night. There was no show wagering.
