Teds Folly unleashed a devastating, six-wide move around the final turn in Saturday nights $300,000 Springboard Mile at Remington Park, then flew past his rivals in the stretch to notch his sixth straight win. He scored by 1 1/4 lengths over Reckless Jerry, while it was another head back in third to Pee H Dee. The Springboard Mile, which was for 2-year-olds, closed out the meet at Remington. It was supported by two other stakes, with Evansville Storm ($19.60) taking the $50,000 Jim Thorpe and Lesley B Judged ($5.60) winning the $50,000 Useeit. Teds Folly ($15.40) was guided over to the rail soon after breaking from post 10, and trailed as Pee H Dee set fractions of 23.54 for the opening quarter, 47.43 for the half-mile, and 1:13.01 for six furlongs. Teds Folly began circling the field on the final turn, and entered the stretch six-wide. His momentum never faltered in the drive, as he closed with good energy to cover the mile on a track rated fast in 1:38.90. I want to dedicate this victory to Teds Folly, jockey Jose Medina said of his mount. Medina has ridden Teds Folly in his last six races, all of which have been for Steve Martin and trainer Wilson Brown. The horses win streak began on Aug. 18, when he won a maiden special weight in his Remington debut. The score came in his third career start. Teds Folly proceeded to win two allowances at Remington, then two restricted stakes the $79,000 Oklahoma Classics Juvenile and the $51,000 Oklahoma Stallion Stakes before testing his skills at two-turns in the Springboard Mile. Brown was hopeful going in that Teds Folly would handle the distance, and after the race commended the horses heart. Teds Folly earned $195,000 for his determined win, to improve his career totals to 6 wins in 8 starts and earnings of $336,979. Its been a wonderful season here, especially with Teds Folly winning six in a row, said Martin. Teds Folly is a son of the late Tale of the Cat stallion Wild Tale. His winning dam, Tricksword, is a daughter of Sword Dance. Teds Folly was bred in Oklahoma by Harmony Stable. The remaining order of finish in the Springboard was No Spin in fourth, followed by Fire Alarm, Basalt, Pleasant Closing, Strong Resolve, Seeker, Alternative, Mr Bluegrass Music, and Flashy Kid. * Jockey Cliff Berry secured his 14th riding title at Remington when he won the sixth race with E Z Time. He had spent most of the meet battling atop the standings with Luis Quinonez. * Trainer Steve Asmussen won his eighth title at Remington at the close of racing Saturday. * Handle on the nine-race card was $1.1 million.
