Ron the Greek wins Big A's Queens County Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) - Ron the Greek beat Inherit the Gold by 21/4 lengths on Saturday in the $65,000 Queens County Stakes at Aqueduct.

With Junior Alvarado aboard for trainer Bill Mott, Ron the Greek grabbed the early lead in the 1 3-16 mile race.

Inherit the Gold, the 4-5 favorite, ranged up on the final turn to take a brief lead before Ron the Greek battled back for his fifth win in 15 starts. The 4-year-old colt was clocked in 1:56.84, paying $5.20, $2.50 and $2.10.

Inherit the Gold returned $2.20 and $2.10 while Arson Squad paid $2.90 to show.
