Mineralogist wins Big A's Soft Morning Stakes
December 8, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Long-shot Mineralogist rallied from last to beat Opus A by a neck Thursday at Aqueduct in the $60,000 Soft Morning Stakes for New York-bred fillies and mares.
David Cohen guided the 4-year-old to the victory for trainer John Kimmel. Mineralogist improved to 5 for 13, running a mile and 70 yards in 1:44.09, and paying $29.40, $7.70 and $3.10.
The pacesetting Opus A returned $4.50 and $2.60, and Spa City Princess paid $2.20 to show.
