Haynesfield has been retired

NEW YORK (AP) - Haynesfield, a two-time Horse of the Year among New York breds, has been retired.

The announcement was made Friday by the Turtle Bird Stable. Plans for a stud career are pending.

The 5-year-old Haynesfield finished with 10 wins in 19 starts worth over $1.3 million. His career highlight was the victory in the 2010 Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont Park.

Haynesfield won at least one stakes race in each of his four racing seasons.
