To Honor and Serve wins Big A's Cigar Mile
November 26, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - To Honor and Serve, the even-money favorite, beat Hymn Book by 13/4 lengths on Saturday in the $250,000 Cigar Mile at Aqueduct.
The lone 3-year-old in the field, To Honor and Serve improved to 3 for 3 at the Big A, having won the Remsen and Nashua Stakes last fall.
The Pennsylvania Derby winner is 3 for 7 in 2011 and his Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott said the colt deserved consideration for the divisional title.
"I know they've got to throw him in the mix," Mott said. "People have something new to look at right now. This race against older horses is very important."
Jose Lezcano was aboard as To Honor and Serve was clocked in 1:33.89, paying $4.10, $3 and $2.10. Hymn Book returned $7.60 and $3.20 while Calibrachoa paid $2.10 to show.
