9-year-old Musketier wins at Calder

MIAMI (AP) - Nine-year-old Musketier held off Simmard by a half-length Saturday in the $150,000 Grade 2 W.L. McKnight Handicap on the turf at Calder, and Jimanator took the $100,000 Grade 3 Fred W. Hooper Handicap.

The German-bred Musketier, ridden by Luis Saez, ran 1 1/2 miles in 2:03 4-5 and paid $11.60, $5.20 and $2.60 for his 10th victory in 44 starts. Simmard returned $6.60 and $3.80, and Winchester paid $2.40 to show.

Jimanator, ridden by Joe Bravo, beat Mambo Meister by three-quarters of a length, running 1 1/8 miles in 1:53 2-5 and paying $7, $2.80 and $2.20. Mambo Meister returned $2.20 and $2.10, and Stimulus Plan paid $2.60.

The 5-year-old Jimanator has 10 victories in 34 starts.
