Tend wins Churchill feature by 1 1/4 lengths
November 16, 2011LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Tend took the lead in midstretch and held on for a 1 1/4-length victory over Golden Country in the $53,107 feature Wednesday at Churchill Downs.
Ridden by Corey Lanerie, the 6-year-old gelded son of Dynaformer covered the six furlongs on a sloppy track in 1:11.17. He was the 6-5 favorite in the field of five and paid $4.60 and $2.80, while Golden Country returned $3.80. Show wagering was canceled when Congressional Page was scratched.
The win was worth $33,000, increasing Tend's earnings to $455,232 for his 10th win in 31 starts.
