Drosselmeyer may race in 2012 as a result of his Breeders' Cup Classic win
November 9, 2011WinStar Farm said Wednesday evening that a decision regarding whether Breeders Cup Classic winner Drosselmeyer will stand at stud or continue racing in 2012 will be made sometime next week. WinStar initially announced in late October that Drosselmeyer would retire after the Classic to stand at Keane Stud in Amenia, N.Y., but, according to a WinStar press release, a clause in the contract regarding his stud career called for flexibility in case Drosselmeyer won the BC Classic, which he did Saturday at Churchill Downs. Drosselmeyer, a 4-year-old colt by Distorted Humor, has been trained by Bill Mott throughout his career. All options are open for Drosselmeyer, WinStar president Elliott Walden in the release. Were weighing all of our options.
