Upsets rule on Day 2 of Breeders' Cup
November 5, 2011LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Upsets ruled the first three races on the second day of the Breeders' Cup, with Afleet Again pulling off the biggest surprise at 41-1 odds in the $500,000 Marathon.
Later Saturday, Uncle Mo was the early favorite for the $5 million Classic, with filly Havre de Grace taking on the boys in the showcase race of the two-day world championships.
In the Marathon, Afleet Again rallied to win by 2 1/4 lengths under Cornelio Velasquez. He paid $85.20.
The race was marred by the failure of 3-1 favorite A.U. Miner to finish the race, along with Meeznah.
