Arena Elvira wins Aqueduct's Turnback the Alarm
November 4, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Arena Elvira rolled to a 63/4-length victory Friday in the $100,000 Turnback the Alarm Stakes for fillies and mares, the opening day feature at Aqueduct.
It was the third straight win for the 4-year-old trained by Bill Mott and ridden by Junior Alvarado. She ran the 1 1-8 miles in 1:51.59.
The second choice at even money, Arena Elvira paid $4.30, $2.60 and $2.10. Check Point was second, returning $5.90 and $5.60, while Go Unbridled paid $5.80 to show.
Tiz Miz Sue, the 4-5 favorite, was fourth, followed by Banker's Buy.
The Turnback the Alarm, originally scheduled for last Saturday, was postponed when a snow storm hit the New York area.
