So Belle earns 1st US win at Santa Anita
November 3, 2011ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) - So Belle rallied in the stretch to beat Cayanna by a half-length Thursday in the $53,082 Track Robbery Purse for fillies and mares at Santa Anita.
Ridden by Hector Berrios, So Belle ran a mile on the turf in 1:35.77 and paid $9, $4.60 and $2.80.
Cayanna returned $4 and $2.60 as the 3-1 favorite, while Last Sting was another three-quarters of a length back in third and paid $2.40 to show.
It was Britain-bred So Belle's first win in the U.S. after four previous tries, in which she finished second, third twice and sixth.
The victory, worth $28,800, increased So Belle's career earnings to $73,260, with two wins in seven starts.
