NYRA and Jockeys' Guild extend agreement
November 3, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Racing Association and the Jockeys' Guild have extended their current agreement three years through 2014 covering benefits and insurance.
Under terms of the agreement, NYRA, which operates Saratoga, Aqueduct and Belmont Park, will cover active members as well as permanently disabled riders.
``We appreciate organizations like NYRA and others who have chosen to stand up for the health, safety and welfare of the jockeys who ride at their tracks,'' said Terry Meyocks, national manager of the Jockeys' Guild. ``The benefits provided to the jockeys are vitally important and necessary because of the dangers jockeys face every day on the track.''
